During the first two months of the current season, 69.78 lakh bales of cotton were pressed, according to the November 2025 report released by CAI. The total supply for November 2025 is estimated at 148.37 lakh bales, comprising 69.78 lakh bales of pressing, 18 lakh bales of imports, and an opening stock of 60.59 lakh bales at the start of the season.
The CAI has estimated cotton consumption for November at 48.40 lakh bales, while export shipments up to November 2025 are pegged at 3 lakh bales. Stock at the end of November 2025 is estimated at 96.97 lakh bales, including 50 lakh bales with textile mills and 46.97 lakh bales held by CCI, Maharashtra Federation and others (MNCs, traders, ginners, exporters, etc), including cotton sold but not yet delivered.
Total cotton supply for the full 2025–26 season (up to September 2026) is projected at 420.09 lakh bales, compared with 392.59 lakh bales last year. The estimate includes the opening stock of 60.59 lakh bales, cotton pressing of 309.50 lakh bales, and imports of 50 lakh bales. Cotton imports projected by the CAI for the season are higher by 9 lakh bales compared to last year. Domestic consumption is estimated at 295 lakh bales, while exports for 2025–26 are projected at 18 lakh bales, unchanged from the previous season.
