  • Japan's Nissan Chemical will establish a new manufacturing facility for its novel herbicide Ryzonic at joint venture firm Nissan Bharat Rasayan Pvt Ltd in Gujarat, India.
  • The plant, scheduled for completion in FY2028, aims to support the global rollout of the paddy rice herbicide from 2027 and strengthen long-term supply capacity and market competitiveness.
Nissan Chemical Corporation (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Shinsuke Yagi; hereinafter “the Company”) has decided to establish a new manufacturing facility for the new herbicide “Ryzonic” (iptriazopyrid) at its consolidated subsidiary in India, Nissan Bharat Rasayan Pvt. Ltd. (hereinafter “NBR”).

NBR was established in 2020 as a joint venture between Bharat Rasayan Ltd (Head office: New Delhi, India; Chairman; Sat Narain Gupta), a major Indian agrochemical manufacturing and sales company, and Nissan Chemical. The JV-company built a new plant in Saykha, Gujarat in March 2023 and then started operations. This investment aims to build a stable supply system capable of meeting future demand expansion, in anticipation of the global rollout of Ryzonic, a novel herbicide discovered by the Company. It is positioned as a highly important strategic investment that will drive future business growth. The new facility is scheduled to be completed and begin operations in fiscal year 2028.

Ryzonic is planned to be launched in 2027 in major markets, including Japan and India, followed by further global expansion. Through this initiative, the Company aims to strengthen its global supply capacity and enhance its competitiveness in the paddy rice herbicide market. While the impact of this project on the consolidated financial results for the current fiscal year is expected to be minimal, it is anticipated to contribute to earnings growth over the medium to long term. The Company will continue to strive for sustainable growth and enhancement of corporate value in its agrochemical business, leveraging its proprietary technologies.
