NITI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) recently launched the Aatmanirbhar Bharat ARISE-Atal New India Challenges (ANIC) programme to spur applied research and innovation in Indian micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and start-ups. It will be driven by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO); the ministries of defence, food processing industries, health and family welfare, and housing and urban affairs; and associated industries to facilitate innovative solutions to sectoral problems.

Speaking at the virtual launch of the initiative, MSME minister Nitin Gadkari said the initiative will help identify and promote innovations necessary for boosting this sector.

The programme will support deserving applied research-based innovations by providing funding support of up to ₹50 lakh for speedy development of the proposed technology solution or product, an official press release said.
