The project, supervised by the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments (DIFE) under the aegis of the Ministry of Labour and Employment (MoLE), is earmarked to receive funding up to €4 million, according to a press release.
The initiative, slated for completion by April 30, 2025, envisages a strengthened institutional framework to foster better compliance with safety standards in the tanneries.
The agreement was inked by Sharifa Khan, the secretary of the Economic Relations Division (ERD) representing Bangladesh, and Andreas Kuck, the country director of GIZ, representing Germany in Bangladesh.
