China’s consumer price index (CPI) increased 0.7 per cent year-over-year (YoY), up from October’s 0.2 per cent, marking the fastest growth since March 2024, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

Despite the annual rise, consumer prices dipped slightly on a monthly basis, easing 0.1 per cent as seasonal factors and softer non-food prices moderated overall cost pressures. Core inflation climbed 1.2 per cent YoY, said Chinese media, quoting NBS data.

Meanwhile, China’s factory-gate prices remained under pressure as producer price index (PPI) fell 2.2 per cent YoY in November.
