China's CPI in Jun 2023 stays stable, below May's increase

In June 2023, China’s consumer price index (CPI), a crucial measure of inflation, recorded no change compared with the same period in the previous year, as per the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). This figure is below the 0.2 per cent increase reported in May 2023.

“In June, the CPI was generally stable,” NBS statistician Dong Lijuan was quoted as saying by local media reports.

A detailed breakdown revealed a slight drop of 0.6 per cent in non-food item prices. Overall, prices fell by a marginal 0.2 per cent on a monthly basis.
