China's power consumption rises 4.5% in Sept, signalling steady growth

Consumption by primary and secondary industries increased 7.3 per cent and 5.7 per cent, respectively, while the tertiary sector recorded a 6.3 per cent rise.

Residential electricity use, however, fell 2.6 per cent to 128.7 billion kilowatt-hours. For the first nine months of 2025, total power consumption reached nearly 7.77 trillion kilowatt-hours, marking a 4.6 per cent annual increase.
