The Young Entrepreneurs Group (YEG) of Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) has elected Prashant Mohota, managing director of Gimatex Industries, as its new chairman.

In a short span of his business career, Mohota has helped his company to grow manifold and spread its wings to various locations across India. Under his spirited leadership, the 118+ year-old Gimated has turned into a lean, IT-savvy and innovative company.

He is also the main promotor of Hinganghat Integrated Textile Park (HITP), first textile park of Vidarbha (Maharashtra) approved under Central Government promoted SITP. He is currently the vice president of Vidarbha Industries Association (VIA).

YEG is a forum for young entrepreneurs in the textile industry holding management positions. Any entrepreneur less than 40 years of age and holding a managerial position in a textile unit is eligible to join the group.

The YEG elected Ashish Saraf, chief financial officer of Technocraft Industries as the vice-chairman in its meeting held on June 30, 2016, in Mumbai.

“I am really excited that the mantle of leading the young group of textile entrepreneurs was handed over to me at a time when India is on the cusp of change. Lot of focus is given by political and business class to the youth energy. I hope to harness it in right direction to ensure that the future of Indian textile decision makers become a discernible force,” said Mohota.

Congratulating the newly elected YEG team, CITI chairman Naishadh Parikh, said, “We want more young entrepreneurs in CITI's board. I am confident that they will bring some fresh energy to the Confederation.” (RKS)
