DHL Global Forwarding appoints George Lawson CEO for India

 DHL Global Forwarding, an international provider of air, sea, and road freight services, recently announced the appointment of George Lawson as chief executive officer (CEO) and country manager for India, effective June 1, 2016.

Lawson was previously the senior vice president –global head of marketing and is the key architect of DHL Global Forwarding's Certified International Forwarder programme that engages employees and develops their expertise to drive outstanding customer experience and financial results.

“With the Indian economy expected to grow at 7.5 per cent in FY 2016-171, India remains a key strategic region for DHL and we see tremendous opportunities in the country,” said Kelvin Leung, CEO, DHL Global Forwarding, Asia Pacific.

He further added, “George has successfully executed global strategies to drive growth and has a deep understanding of our business through the last two decades he spent with DHL. His experience will be beneficial in bringing our business growth to new heights in India.”

“With India gathering momentum to hold its ranking as the world's fastest growing large economy in the first quarter this year too. It is a privilege to lead our India team that has consistently delivered high quality solutions for our customers,” said Lawson.

The company also supports the growth of SME segment in India by offering access to the worldwide markets through the extensive DHL global network. DHL Global Forwarding has also made significant investments in its Free Trade Zone facilities in Mumbai and Chennai.  (HO)
