The Women Venture Studio Digital Innovation Hub will strengthen women-led entrepreneurship and boost their participation in the country’s growing digital economy, an official statement issued in Abuja said.
The hub will equip women entrepreneurs with digital skills, market access and business networks required to compete globally.
Focussed on digital capabilities, sustainable business models and circular fashion, the initiative blends technology and creativity to build a competitive, future-ready female workforce, domestic media outlets reported.
Kano state deputy governor Aminu Gwarzo endorsed the initiative and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding opportunities for women.
Kano’s textile industry dates back to the 15th century, when it was renowned across West Africa for its vibrant indigo-dyed fabrics and intricate embroidery, earning it the nickname ‘the Manchester of Africa’.
The sector declined in recent decades due to cheap imports, limited access to technology and low investment.
