The annual inflation rate of the euro area in December 2022 is expected to reach 9.2 per cent, down from 10.1 per cent in November, as per a flash estimate from Eurostat, statistical office of the European Union. Energy is expected to be the main component of euro area’s inflation, as it is estimated to have the highest annual rate in December (25.7%, compared with 34.9% in November).Non-energy industrial goods are expected to have an annual inflation rate of 6.4 per cent in December 2022, compared with 6.1 per cent in November 2022, according to Eurostat.
Up to December 31, 2022, the euro area included Belgium, Germany, Estonia, Ireland, Greece, Spain, France, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Cyprus, Latvia, the Netherlands, Austria, Portugal, Slovenia, Slovakia, and Finland.
