The advisory board of the conference nominates six remarkable products, and the nominees have the opportunity to present their innovation to a broad expert audience on the first day of the conference, Nova-Institute said in a press release.
The deadline for submitting innovations is December 15, 2023. By mid-January 2024, a jury consisting of representatives of the Nova-Institute, the advisory board, and sponsors of the conference will nominate the outstanding ‘Top 6’ applicants prior to the conference. After the jury has selected the ‘Top 6’ candidates among the applicants, their application documents will be made available for download at the conference website to provide the audience and other interested parties a first glimpse of these innovations.
In addition, the ‘Top 6’ will present their innovations in a shared exhibition space provided by the Nova-Institute during the whole of the conference. Furthermore, there is the option for candidates to book their own exhibition space.
During the conference, each of the six companies will introduce their innovation in a short 10-minute presentation on the first day of the conference (March 13, 2024). The Cellulose Fibre Innovation of the Year 2024 Award will be voted for by conference delegates as well as online participants on the afternoon of March 13. The announcement of the winner will take place in the evening.
The main source for the production of staple fibres or filaments such as viscose, lyocell, modal, acetate or other types of cellulose fibres is wood-based chemical pulp. At the same time, new sources such as agricultural wastes and fibres, paper grade pulp and recycled textiles are emerging on a global scale, with a variety of new sources and companies contributing new technologies, processing methods and ideas. The Cellulose Fibres Conference 2024 will address these and other leading issues in the field of cellulose fibres.
In recent months, the EU has introduced a series of key policies that aim at shifting investment towards more sustainable economic activities, including new rules on sustainability claims and reporting. The sustainability session of the programme will focus on what this means for the industry. LCA of cellulose fibres plays an important role as a basis for green claims. The current status will be presented at the conference.
The Cellulose Fibres Conference 2024 will cover the entire value chain, from lignocellulose, chemical pulp, cellulose fibres such as rayon, viscose, modal or lyocell and new developments to a wide range of applications: textiles made from renewable fibres, nonwovens such as wet wipes, and new areas such as composites, hygiene, packaging or nanocellulose in biodegradable applications. The conference will provide deep insights into the promising future of cellulose fibres, which fits perfectly with the current trends of circular economy, recycling, and sustainable carbon cycles.
Andritz, Kemira, Lenzing, List Technology will support the conference as Gold Sponsors, and Dienes Apparatebau and Kelheim Fibres will support it as Bronze Sponsors. The innovation award ‘Cellulose Fibre Innovation of the Year 2024’ is sponsored by GIG Karasek. Additionally, as the designated Knowledge Partner, Fibre2Fashion will present a comprehensive knowledge paper at the event, offering a detailed overview and insights into the conference's theme.
The event will be accompanied by a poster exhibition. Poster submission is possible until February 15, 2024.
