The decision was arrived at during Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva’s first official visit to Malaysia that ends today.
The Brazilian President met Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and discussed a wide range of bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual interest, according to a release from the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Both sides committed to facilitate greater market access, enhance business-to-business connectivity, strengthen supply chain resilience and promote joint ventures in high-impact sectors.
The ongoing negotiations on the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA), once concluded, will further facilitate business engagement, help avoid double taxation and tax evasion, and promote further investments in both directions.
The leaders reaffirmed their support for an urgent and comprehensive reform of global governance institutions that increase the participation of developing countries in their decision-making bodies and adapt them to contemporary geopolitical realities.
