Employment figures remained positive, with paid employment rising by an average of 5,000 per month during the same period. Alongside the unemployed, 3.2 million individuals were outside the labour force due to reasons such as retirement, illness, or disability. This figure is also decreasing, with an average monthly fall of 6,000, the CBS said in a press release.
Employee Insurance Agency (UWV) showed a similar trend. The number of people receiving unemployment benefits (WW) dropped to 183,600 by the end of June 2025—down by 3,000 or 1.6 per cent from the previous month.
Notably, the largest decline was recorded among those under the age of 25 (-3.7 per cent), while the only increase was among those aged 65 and above (+0.2 per cent).
In terms of labour market dynamics, more people exited unemployment than entered it. Approximately 239,000 previously unemployed individuals either found work or left the labour force, compared to 230,000 who became newly unemployed. This resulted in a net decrease in unemployment, in line with recent trends.
