The retail sales of textiles and garments in Chinese domestic markets have grown by 11.9 percent year-on-year to 541.5 billion yuan (US$ 88.26 billion), during the first six months of 2013, according to the data released by the National Bureau of Statistics.

In June 2013 itself, the retail sales of textiles and apparel in China grew by 15 percent year-on-year to 88.6 billion yuan (US$ 14.44 billion).

In comparison, China’s textile and apparel exports jumped 12 percent year-on-year to US$ 127.21 billion from January to June 2013, according to the data from the General Administration of Customs.

Of this, textile exports climbed 10.1 percent year-on-year to US$ 51.16 billion, while clothing exports rose by 13.4 percent year-on-year to US$ 76.05 billion.

Thus, the value of Chinese textile and garment exports remained more than the value of textiles and apparel sold in the Chinese domestic retail market, during the period under review.
