'Quality is lifeline for growth of Chinese textile sector'

The China Textile Industry Association organized the sixth national textile industry quality work exchange programme in Zibo, Shandong, last month.
 
At the meeting, Xu Ying, vice president of the Association, briefed the participants on the overall situation of the textile industry in 2013. He stressed on the critical period of industry transformation and upgrading, and said that enhancing the quality of work was very important. 
 
Quality is the lifeline, but it is also necessary to improve basic brand building, Xu Ying added and said that in 2014 the textile industry will continue to focus on enhancing the quality management activities and carry out promotion of advanced high-performance model of enterprises, and actively cooperate with government departments for improving quality and brand work.
 
Sun Huaibin, deputy director of the Science and Technology in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) said that since the financial crisis, the textile industry is passing through an adjustment phase, and companies are also facing multiple pressures. In such a situation, the most important work for enterprises is to develop hard skills, improve quality and strengthen management, which is also an inevitable choice for sustainable development of the industry.
 
Participants at the meeting put forward new requirements and recommendations. They noted that in the current critical period of transformation and upgrading of the textile industry, focus should be on production development, innovation, brand development and quality.
