Turkey's TIKA hosts textile workshop for women in Tunisia

The Turkish International Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) and Amal Association of Tunisia, recently conducted a textile workshop in the Tunisian capital city of Tunis to provide vocational training for unemployed Tunisian women.
 
According to a statement issued by TIKA, Tunisian Economy Minister Reza al-Saidi said at the opening ceremony, that the workshop was initiated with the aim of providing training to Tunisian women in textiles sector, in order to help them become self-dependent.
 
Cooperation between Tunisia and Turkey has been increasing with each passing day, in various sectors, including textiles, and this workshop serves as a proof of the same, he added.
 
The Tunisian Minister said, the manufacturing sector of the country is the main sector providing employment to majority of the people, and the TIKA project would help facilitate employment for the women in the country.
 
Gurbuz Ise, Tunisian coordinator of the TIKA project, said the Amal Association’s education center in Tunis is being used as a textile warehouse to provide training to these women in different aspects of textiles, such as manufacturing of garment, sewing, using of textile machinery, and more.
 
Such social projects for empowering women need to be undertaken in order to make them more self-dependent, and the TIKA textile workshop would help make them equipped to get employment, he added.
