According to a statement issued by DAKA, Mr. Demirci said the construction of the textile city on the highway located 10 kms from the Gurpinar district is expected to be completed sometime in August and operations at the facility are also expected to begin by the end of that month.

The Van Textile City is being constructed on 300 acres of land at the highway of the Gurpinar district, and on completion, the textile city is expected to house around 45 textile and garment enterprises which would provide direct employment to over 13,000 people in the province.

The establishment of the textile city in Van was an initiative undertaken by the Turkish Ministry of Development’s Growth Centers Support Program during last year. The textile city is being constructed at an estimated cost of 54 million Turkish lira.
