Spanish textile industry price index rises 0.9% in Jan'14

The Industrial Price Index (IPRI) for Spanish textiles increased by 0.9 percent year-on-year in January 2014, according to the data released by the National Statistics Institute (INE). The IPRI registered in the month of January is significantly higher than the IPRI recorded in the month of December, 2013.
 
Meanwhile, as per the INE data, the IPRI in the manufacture of wearing apparel segment saw a decline of 1.1 percent in the month of January 2014, compared to the same month last year.
 
The IPRI of the overall manufacturing industry of Spain, which includes the manufacturing of textiles and apparel, also saw a decrease of 1.8 percent in the month of January, compared to the same month in 2013.
 
Overall, the annual rate of the IPRI for the month of January fell by 1.8 percent , which is more than two points below the IPRI registered in December 2013.
 
IPRI measures the monthly change in prices of industrial products manufactured and sold. The index measures ex-factory selling prices that do not include expenses incurred on marketing, transportation and value-added tax (VAT). 
 
The INE is the official organization in Spain that collects statistics about demography, economy, and Spanish society. It is an autonomous organization in Spain responsible for overall coordination of statistical services of the General State Administration in monitoring, control and supervision of technical procedures.
