Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung started discussions with the European Commission (EC) President Manuel Barroso in Brussels, on September 8, the first day of his official visit.
This was the first visit for Dung as Prime Minister at invitation of EC President Manuel Barroso and Belgian Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt.
During the talks with, EC President Manuel appreciated Vietnam's efforts in all aspects and presented his views on country's WTO membership in the near future.
He also pledged a 160 million EUR support in 2007-2013 period.
Meanwhile, PM Dung sincerely thanked the EC and the EU member countries for their assistance which played important role in renovation process and national development of Vietnam.
Referring to EU's anti–dumping lawsuit on Vietnamese leather shoes, Dung said such that harsh decision did not reflex increasing constructive cooperation relation with the EU as well as worked against trade liberalization.
