Government, after facing severe labour problems, is contemplating to form a Dispute Settlement Board (DSB) by mainly involving private entrepreneurs.

This board will deal with labour conflict and other challenges in export-oriented industries.

Sources reveal that the ministers of commerce and industries would try to reach a decision on the formation of the board. The ministry will prepare a report and present it to Finance and Commerce Adviser, Mirza Azizul Islam, for approval.

The board will help to solve the workers-related issues.

The Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) has earlier made suggestions for such a board as ready-made garment (RMG) sector is recently facing the labour problems.

The EPB also recommended the RMG companies to pay the minimum wage for workers as agreed in a tripartite deal signed recently.

The Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) have approved the plan of forming such a board which would help to improve the labour compliance issues.
