According to an investigation carried out recently, enterprises in Hanchuan city of Hubei Province are short of over 30,000 workers; this despite the fact that they have invested around 400,000 yuan on recruitment ads.
Though enterprises have tried to solve this problem by improving the salaries and working conditions of their employees, they have not really succeeded.
For example, many textile companies have hiked workers' salaries from 500 yuan to 1,200 yuan. Many companies have even installed air conditioners in dormitories, but to no avail.
Keeping the prevailing condition in mind, experts have suggested a number of steps that could be taken to create employment opportunities. Firstly, the training system of workers who come from villages should be strengthened.
Secondly, unemployed youth from smaller towns should be encouraged to work in cities; lastly, production level should be increased so that more number of people could be employed.
