The changeover process from Maltese Lira to the Euro is one of the milestone events in the history of Malta. In just another few days the country will adopt Euro as a currency and introduce euro cash.
In order to make this event more memorable, the Malta Office of the European Parliament rolled out huge carpets showing euro coins designed by the various countries in the eurozone.
This effort was taken in order to make the general public aware of the new currency. The Malta Office of the European Parliament has also opened euro converters at a retail store in Valletta.
The blue carpets with coin motifs covered all the way from City Gate to the palace.
