International leasing in 2007 accounts for approximately US $800 billion. This year about 20 percent of all form of capital formation, amounting to $800 billion, came in the way of new leasing finances. But in Bangladesh the leasing contribution in terms of all capital formation is six to seven percent. It shows that there is room for improvement in this regard", Amembal said.
He concluded that in Bangladesh all the legal, regulatory, taxation and accounting requirements which are mandatory for leasing were in place. If the operating lease is introduced in Bangladesh it can improve the lease financing business from seven percent to double digits in a few years.
