Report on sustainable & social responsibility released

China is the world's largest textile and garment manufacturing hub and its global share of textile and garment exports accounts for 32.71 percent of overall worldwide exports and its fiber processing reached a total of 37 million tons in 2009.

To speed up transformation and upgrading pace of China's textile industry, a report on social responsibility of Chinese textile and garment enterprises, containing evaluation activities about energy saving performance and sustainability initiatives, was released.

According to the report, in the background of global economic integration, increasing competition in international politics, economies and markets, the industry has to pay attention to what products to produce and in which production mode to produce.

It adds that, the industry should also be concerned about how to raise labor productivity, maintain harmony in labor relations, how to achieve harmony with the environment and fair trade and evaluate social value of products in consumption process.

This will lead to the concept of social responsibility on healthy and sustainable way of production. This report will become guidance for China's textile and apparel industry to change its development mode in order to enhance its international competitiveness.

The report also calls on enterprises to increase the awareness of environmental protection, make greater contributions to building a chain of green industry by creating positive solutions on saving energy, by using innovative energy saving solutions.
