PCSIR textile research centre to come up in Faisalabad

The Pakistan Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR) will establish a Textile Testing Research Centre (TTRC) in Faisalabad, Pakistan at an estimated cost of Rs 429 million. The project is expected to boost the textile exports by the SME sector, according to the head of PCSIR. It has officially been approved by the country’s government.

Dr Shahzad Alam, chairman of PCSIR spoke about the centre while attending a meeting at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) in Faisalabad. His was visiting to consult stakeholders to make the project more productive and beneficial for the textile industry.

He also informed that Rs 745 million will be provided for the Certification Incentive Programme (CIP) of PCSIR. A special desk will also be set up at FCCI to act as a link between industrialists and PCSIR R&D labs.

PCSIR has 9 labs and 7 academic institutes in different parts of Pakistan. (KD)
