Power consumption was 128.25 BU in July last year—higher than 123.72 BU in July 2021.
The peak power demand met, which is the highest supply in a day, rose to 208.82 GW in July this year, while the peak power supply stood at 190.35 GW in July last year and 200.53 GW in July 2021.
The country's electricity demand failed to reach the power ministry’s estimates of 229 GW during this summer due to unseasonal rains. Power consumption was affected from March to June due to widespread rains.
However, power consumption growth was not bad this June and improved significantly in July, according to a report by an Indian news outlet.
Power consumption and demand both surged in July due to extreme humid conditions.
Experts hope that power consumption and demand would grow in August due to further improvement in economic activities as well as high humidity levels.
