Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao will in August lay the foundation stone of a mega textiles park in Warangal Rural district that would offer jobs to thousands of workers, according to the state’s deputy chief minister K Srihari. The park at Chintalapalli near Warangal City will come up on 1,190 acres with an estimated outlay of Rs 1,150 crore.

It will have ginning, spinning, weaving, dyeing and other units and is expected to attract investments of over ? 11,000 crore, Srihari told reporters at Chintalapalli recently. The land has already been acquired.

Weavers who have migrated to Maharashtra, Gujarat and Haryana would be urged to return after the project is completed, he said. Telangana produces about 60 lakh bales of cotton a year, most of which is sent to adjoining states due to shortage of processing units.

Some Tiruppur based textile manufacturers have already committed to invest in the textile park. (DS)
