Turkiye’s consumer price index (CPI) for December 2024 saw an increase of 1.03 per cent month-over-month (MoM), and 44.38 per cent increase year-over-year (YoY). Prices rose by 44.38 per cent, compared to December 2023. On average, prices over the past 12 months were 58.51 per cent higher compared to the previous year, up from 53.86 per cent in 2023 but lower than the 72.31 per cent recorded in 2022.

Clothing and footwear prices reduced by 0.67 per cent in December 2024, the highest monthly decrease for any main group. On the other hand, furnishings and household equipment with 2.78 per cent was the main group where the highest monthly increase realised, Turkish Statistical Institute said in a press release.

The annual CPI rate of change for December 2024 was 32.32 per cent in the clothing and footwear category and 38.72 per cent in the furnishing and household equipment category.

The indicator for CPI having specified coverage increased by 43.94 per cent annually and 1.17 per cent monthly in December 2024. The CPI excluding unprocessed food, energy, alcoholic beverages, tobacco, and gold, recorded the following changes: a 1.17 per cent increase compared to the previous month, a 43.94 per cent increase compared to December of the previous year, a 43.94 per cent rise compared to the same month of the previous year, and a 58.37 per cent increase based on the twelve-month moving average.
