UK's GDP grows by 0.2% in Sep 2023, no quarterly rise

The UK’s monthly real gross domestic product (GDP) is estimated to have grown by 0.2 per cent in September 2023, following growth of 0.1 per cent in August 2023. Looking at the broader picture, GDP showed no growth in the three months to September 2023.

Compared with the same month last year, monthly GDP grew by 1.3 per cent in September 2023. For comparison, it grew by 0.5 per cent between August 2022 and August 2023, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

Production output in September 2023 showed no growth, following falls of 1.1 per cent and 0.5 per cent in July and August, respectively. Meanwhile, manufacturing grew by 0.1 per cent in September 2023, after a fall of 0.7 per cent in August.
