Independent safety science company UL recently organised the Toy Technical seminar in Mumbai and has announced the launch of UL Toy Safety Certification Mark for Indian toy manufacturers. Technical session addressed important topics relevant to the Indian toy Industry and failures encountered in products for analytical and physical parameters.

Topics like global mandatory test requirements for toys with new regulatory updates in place, major recalls that happened for toys and relevant corrective actions in recent past were discussed during the seminar.

The new Toy Safety Certification Mark service launched this year, brings heightened credibility to a product's safety. UL developed the UL Toy Safety Certification Mark as a holistic approach to testing and compliance for toys. Testing is based on latest ASTM F963 Standard Consumer Safety Specifications for Toy Safety that includes mechanical use and abuse, flammability and chemical testing for lead and other heavy metals. The Mark's Program includes supply chain risk management in addition to product testing to promote continued compliance throughout production. (KD)
