Governor of New Hampshire state Chris Sununu signed into law on September 3 SB 193, ‘An Act Prohibiting the Sale of Certain Furniture and Carpeting with Flame Retardants’ to restrict flame retardants to no more than 0.1 per cent in residential upholstered furniture in the United States. The restrictions will be implemented in phases, starting January.

Manufacturers are obliged to provide a certificate of compliance within 30 days if it is requested by an attorney general, according to information on the website of SGS, an inspection, verification, testing and certification company.
