On 17 March 2007, at the forum of some industrial cluster pilot regions for national textile industry, Jiaxiang County was identified as industry cluster Pilot County by China Textile Industry Association. It was also awarded the title of 'China gloves city'.
Jiaxiang gloves industry originated in late 1980s of 20th century. After nearly 20 years of development, it has formed the process and production capacity of over 100 types of glove in four series, including cold-proof gloves, skiing gloves, hunting gloves and shooting gloves.
It has more than 160 production and processing enterprises, with an annual output of more than four million dozens of gloves. In 2006, it completed sales revenues of 1.08 billion yuan and earned over US $56 million from exports.
