While imports shot up 28 percent to US $8.6 million, Canada's cotton yarn demand rose in September.

The United States, Pakistan and India, in that order, were major suppliers of cotton yarn to Canada.

From January to September, total cotton yarn imports have been $75.48 million, showing 2.7 percent year-on-year expansion.

Capturing 55.43 percent of the Canadian cotton yarn market, the United States leads as imports from there increased 25.5 percent at $41.84 million.

Though the volume dropped to 31.9 percent, India retained last year's second position this year also. Though imports from Pakistan remained insignificant at $7.2 million, they showed a rise by stupendous 45.4 percent.
