Serbian footwear firm Insert has opened a factory in Apatin town in West Backa district of the autonomous province of Vojvodina and plans to invest $1.16 million to develop it further. The company plans to soon hire 60 employees, while 100 more will be added during the second phase, according to a recent statement released by the provincial government.

The factory was constructed quickly with support from the Apatin administration and the government of Vojvodina, a Serbian media report quoted Apatin mayor Milan Skrbic as saying.

Insert operates factories in Sremska Mitrovica in the same province and Ruma in northern Serbia, with 120 and 150 employees respectively. The company has stores in 17 Serbian cities and exports to Russia, Belarus, Croatia, Bosna and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia and Bulgaria. (DS)
