“Now, the country needs about 38,000 technically skilled and about 33,000 manpower skilled in marketing in RMG sector,” Amu said at an apparel expo in Dhaka, BSS reported.
In order to achieve the target of earning $50 billion from apparel exports by 2021, it is necessary to accelerate the initiatives of creating skilled and trained manpower, the minister said.
Creating skilled manpower in various segments, including textile production, quality control, fashion designing, etc, will also help in reducing Bangladesh's dependence on foreign manpower, he added.
Stating that the present government is working to create skilled manpower for the garment industry, he mentioned that the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Foundation is playing a vital role in developing apparel sector of the country, by providing all sorts of assistance to apparel entrepreneurs like training, marketing and financing.
