The government of Bangladesh has agreed to introduce the employment injury scheme (EIS) for workers from the readymade garment (RMG) sector starting from July this year. The agreement was reached during a meeting between the country’s labour and employment ministry and the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Geneva, Switzerland held on Wednesday.The project is expected to be launched during the first week of July as a pilot project, said Bangladeshi media reports.
A bank account for the project will be opened in a government bank and will be operated by a tripartite management committee.
