A final tripartite vote was carried out on four minimum wage options: $198, $206, $210, and $213. While the $198 option won the majority vote, Prime Minister Hun Sen added $2 to the amount, thus finalising the sum to $200 per month, according to various Cambodian media reports.
Other reimbursements including meal allowance, work performance reward, seniority bonus, and partial travel and accommodation expenses will be added to the minimum wage, raising it to $217-$228 on an average per month.
The minimum wages of garment workers are to be increased every year according to the Cambodian government’s policy.
