HZ Outdoor to invest $6.03 mn in Bangladesh's KEPZ for RMG plant

China-Taiwanese company HZ Outdoor International Co Ltd will invest around $6.03 million in Bangladesh’s Karnaphuli Export Processing Zone (KEPZ) to build a readymade garment (RMG) and bag manufacturing plant. An agreement to this effect was signed between Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) and HZ Outdoor at BEPZA Complex, Dhaka on September 4, 2022.

HZ Outdoor will produce 3.08 million pieces of jackets, bags, shirt, pants, shorts, trousers, cap/hat, skirt, vests, and socks annually, according to a press release by BEPZA. The plant will create job opportunities for around 2,202 Bangladeshis. Notably, another similar factory under the same company is situated in Chattogram EPZ (economic processing zone).

Ali Reza Mazid, member (investment promotion) of BEPZA and Roberto Haryono Go, general manager of HZ Outdoor signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations. The executive chairman of BEPZA major general Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman witnessed the signing ceremony.

Among others, member (engineering) Mohammad Faruque Alam, member (finance) Nafisa Banu, executive director (administration) Md. Zakir Hossain Chowdhury, executive director (public relations) Nazma Binte Alamgir, executive director (enterprise services) Md. Khorshid Alam, and additional executive director (investment promotion) Md. Fazlul Haque Mazumder were present during the signing ceremony.
