Some Chinese designers presented their own designer brands at the China International Fashion Week held last month in Beijing.

Industry experts are now advising the Chinese clothing firms to start making their own brands in collaboration with these designers for their own independent design.

At present, Chinese consumers are easily being affected by Western designs and concepts due to lack of domestic designs. In fact, the lack of domestic designers is one of the important reasons for China not having world-class clothing brands in spite of the country being the biggest exporter of textiles and garments.

According to experts, there is need for Chinese companies to produce their own new refreshing designs with unique characteristics, and widely disseminate the same through appropriate marketing tools.

The huge demand for clothing in China gives a big scope for self-dependent brands and local designers, as it will be easier for them to understand the spending habits of Chinese consumers and they would be able to more easily grasp fashion trends in China, compared to international brands.

However, Chinese apparel enterprises would have to exude confidence in themselves and their brands and pass the same to consumers, opine experts.
