The Spanish city of Igualada and FAGEPI, a textile group based in Anoia region of Spain, have jointly launched a campaign, Igualada Fashion Backstage, to attract interested apparel companies to set up their manufacturing in Anoia region.

As a part of the campaign, a profile and a website have been unveiled to highlight the potential of textile sector in Anoia region and its scope for progress.

There are currently 145 apparel manufacturing companies in the region employing around 2,700 people, generating a turnover of around €230 million a year.

At the launch of the new campaign, the mayor of Igualada city, Marc Castells, stated that relocation of textile industries to Anoia County will ensure the growth of Catalonian textile industry.

While presenting the project on bringing back textile companies in the region, Mr. Castells added that knowledge of apparel-manufacturing in the workers of Anoia and the availability of industrial land, will contribute to a promising return of clothing units.

Igualada is a hub for leading fashion brands from more than forty countries, including Punto Blanco, Sita Murt, Buff or Escorpion, and supplies knitwear to many apparel companies.
