Mumbai-based superhero and comic book characters themed limited edition t-shirt retailer Voxpopclothing has received an investment of US$ 400,000 from seed funding provider firm Blume Ventures along with a clutch of strategic investors from India and the US.

According to a statement issued by Blume Ventures, the online clothing retailer, launched in September 2013, is a licensee of character t-shirts of brands like Disney, Marvel, DC Comics and Star Trek, and received the funding from Blume and other investors in order to sell these t-shirts through its webstore, reports medianama.com.

Siddharth Taparia, founder of Voxpopclothing.com said the online t-shirt store is not just an apparel company, but a whole new culture for today’s youth, who identify with these characters.

At the core of fashion lies expression, and in India, the emerging trend of free expression is growing at a very fast pace, he added.

According to Mr. Taparia, the idea behind Voxpopclothing.com is to create a lifestyle apparel company selling t-shirts, where consumers can wear, touch and feel their brand or icon. Every t-shirt produced by the company is an artistic statement of the fan and is created by the fan, he added.

Mr. Taparia explained that Voxpopclothing is an interactive platform through which the company can explore new talents and give them opportunities for creative overflow.

The online t-shirt retailer offers these character-based t-shirts for both men and women. The webstore has made shopping easy for consumers as the t-shirts are segregated on the basis of gender and characters to provide customers with uncomplicated access while shopping.
