The much awaited Apparel Park in the country's denim city will finally be opened today evening and Chief Minister Narendra Modi is expected to do the honours. Gujarat state Industry Minister Anil T Patel will also be present at the inauguration.
This SEZ Park, located near Khokhra Bridge, Ahmedabad, will house centres that will train people to manufacture goods from fabric produced by A L T College.
Government has allocated 38 hectares of lands for the four cloth mills that were forced to cease operations due to losses. Initially the factories will be provided with 20 hectares.
Already 27 companies have taken up land in the first phase. Officials have said that many major industrialists have shown keen interest in investing, here. Infact, 30 other enterprises are expected to establish facilities in the second phase.
All the units here will manufacture apparel and garments. Analysts predict that apparel exports from the state will reach around Rs4000 crore.
Experts claim that this Park will generate job opportunities for over 1 lakh women.
