Development Leading Group Office of Hangzhou Silk and Ladies Wear Industry reported that having studied the thorough evaluation of relevant domestic experts, Hangzhou has recently been awarded the title of 'Chinese women's wear center' by China Commercial Federation.

This has made it the second important apparel center in the country, after Changshu Jiangsu, which has been named as 'Chinese men's wear center'.

Hangzhou has traditional advantages not only in silk but also with Zhejiang Academy of Art and Chinese Academy of Art, which chisel out thousands of designing talents each year.

Coupled with developed economy, Hangzhou ladies' wear combines 'water culture' and traditional 'silk culture', and has formed its distinct characteristics of graceful, elegant and strong style that reflect the South Yangtse River region.

It is reported that the entire sales of women's wear industry in Hangzhou reached 60 billion yuan in 2006. Hangzhou has more than 2,000 enterprises in women's wear production and over 800 registered trademarks.
