US based athletic apparel manufacturer SewSporty has acquired Stonewear, women’s fitness brand from Great Trango Holdings Inc (GTHI). The acquisition has expanded SewSporty’s presence in the women’s performance lifestyle category as Stonewear offers fitness and lifestyle apparel for hiking, rock climbing, yoga, running, travel and everyday wear.

SewSporty, founded in 1987, is into the manufacturing of traditional and technical sportswear for rowing, cycling, running and yoga. Founded in 1996, Stonewear was acquired by GTHI, a group of privately held climbing brands, in the year 2001.

“Stonewear has established strong market share and we believe the brand has potential to further maximise results with a dedicated manufacturing partner. It is a natural fit given the capacity of our facility in Vista, CA, which enables Stonewear to continue manufacturing in the US,” said Michael Gilstrap, president and CEO, SewSporty.

“Activewear is a complex market with numerous players. Stonewear requires a dedicated apparel manufacturer to take the brand to the next level, and given our history working together on the manufacturing side, we are confident SewSporty is the best choice,” said Chris Klinke, president of GTHI.
