Sri Lanka's Knitline Apparels to set up manufacturing unit

Knitline Apparels Ltd chief executive officer Riz Onies recently signed an agreement with Board of Investment (BoI) of Sri Lanka chairman Susantha Ratnayake to set up a high-tech garment factory specialising in the manufacturing of flat knit fashion apparel. Under the agreement, the company will manufacture knitwear like pullovers, dresses, sweaters and beanies.

The company is planning to use modern machinery and technology developed in Japan at the factory to be located in Wattala covering 12,000 square feet. It will initially employ around 80 people, according to Sri Lanka media reports.

Onies said the company wants to create a sustainable system with zero inventory loss, zero leftovers and zero waste.
