Karl-Erivan Haub, the 58-year-old CEO of Tengelmann retail group, has gone missing in the Alps. Haub, the fifth generation of the family that runs the business since it was founded in 1867, failed to return from an off-piste skiing tour in Matterhorn region on the Swiss-Italian border on Saturday, April 7, German and Swiss media reported.

Haub, whose family is counted among the wealthiest in Germany, did not turn up for an appointment in Zermatt, Switzerland on Saturday evening, reports said.

A search was underway for Haub, who has run the Tengelmann Group since 2000, Spiegel magazine quoted a Tengelmann spokeswoman as saying.

A very experienced skier and mountaineer, Haub was in Switzerland to train for the Patrouille des Glaciers ski race, scheduled to take place on April 17. (RKS)
