Bangladesh state minister for labour and employment Begum Monnujan Sufian recently said her ministry has donated Tk 83.71 crore from its central fund for the welfare of garment industry workers. The central fund, which has received around Tk 224.12 crore since July 2016, has Tk 125 crore now, its managing director Mohammad Amir Hossain said.

The central fund was set up at the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in 2016 to boost 100 percent export-centric industries, especially for garment sector, the minister was quoted as saying by Bangla media reports.
