Pondicherry to get Rs 40cr apparel park

Speaking from the sidelines at a function in Pondicherry, the Textiles Minister Shankersinh Vaghela announced that a Rs 40 crores Apparel Park has been proposed for the Union Territory. He also announced that the textiles infrastructure development fund and upgradation fund schemes (TUFS) would be clubbed to support the industry as a whole in the country. Turning to the closed National Textile Mills, he informed that of the 53 closed National Textile Mills, 15 have been revived so far, and other 18 mills are to reopen in joint private sector partnership. Vaghela stressed that the Government would do all it can to ensure development of textile industry, particulalrly in Pondicherry by extending necessary support.
