Ashes of tragic incident in KTS Composite Textile factory seem to be hot as the Government issued a deadline to the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) to identify readymade garment factories which are not conforming to rules and regulations set by National Taskforce.
Media stated that Tipu Munshi, President of BGMEA was called by Ministry of Commerce and asked to conduct a detailed survey to identify units, which do not obey terms and conditions for safety of workers.
The survey has to be completed within next 15 days.
Ministry also ordered BGMEA to close down all the disobedient factories immediately after finding out those.
In its directive, the Ministry has asked the BGMEA to ensure that all the garment factories must have two stairs and that must remain open always, because most of the mishap of fire claimed huge number of lives due to locking of the gates.
It also asked to ensure facility of fire safety systems in the factories.
